Everything I needed To Know I learned In Hell Some Thoughts on Turning Darkness Into Light or How To Escape The Mess You've Made edition by Dan Balestrero SelfHelp eBooks

Master teacher Dan Balestrero takes us a journey through the minefields of life and helps us get to a good place at the end. Reading this book reminds me of how I prepare a hearty vegan meal of soup and bread. I bake the bread the day before. Pretty boring stuff. Lots of waiting around for dough to rise, knocking it down again, forming the loaves, baking for just the right amount of time, cooling it for a long time, and then getting to it the next day. That next day I start by chopping the vegetables, shredding the greens, and pressing the garlic. I combine ingredients in a pot and set it to cook. Only after it's done cooking and plated it up with the bread sliced am I ready to enjoy a great meal.
I suspect Dan Balestrero's approach is because he has known so many people with so many snags in their lives, that he felt the need to untangle many things. But finally about chapter 15 he really gets to the point of the book. He lays out a great plan to get what we really want in life, satisfaction, He has collected enough wisdom by this time in his days on earth to really have something valuable to share. He knows the inns and outs of all the methods of human persuasions and getting what we really want in life. You could pick any of the later chapters in charge a lot of money for the wisdom that's there but he keeps piling it on. It reminds me of when my mother served us supper from the pans onto our plates and kept dishing it up until we were full.
I think this book is for people who are pausing to decide to change. It might be somebody old like me reinventing myself during my retirement. Or it could be somebody switching between jobs in mid career. And it might be especially helpful for the new graduate or the new hire into today's job market. It's likely that people will need to adapt many more times in the future that they have in the past to stay gainfully employed and, may I say, enjoying their working lives.
In these days of contentious social media and broadcast TV, I might hope that we could all learn how to truly get along with each other by learning Dan's approach.

Everything I needed To Know I learned In Hell Some Thoughts on Turning Darkness Into Light or How To Escape The Mess You've Made edition by Dan Balestrero SelfHelp eBooks Reviews

Great book Dan. I couldn't help but laugh many times.
Practical life advice is woven into entertaining anecdotes. Quick and enjoyable read, compliments some needed downtime with your favorite beverage.
This is an open, honest book on taking a closer look at ourselves in how we relate to others, how we treat others, and in turn how the way we treat ourselves effects every aspect of our lives. This book illustrates finding the light in your darkness and how to alter your perception of those experiences to be able to make positive change in your life. It's a great read.
I love this book! Everything I Needed To Know I Learned In Hell is presented in a clear and friendly way. Each chapter has different insights into ways a person may be getting themselves stuck and ideas for moving forward. Dan Balestrero imparts knowledge conversationally and with levity. It's a great read; I wish there was a book like this years ago.
The conversational tone and shorter length make "Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Hell" seem like a quick read. However, Dan's wisdom requires some time to reflect. Thankfully, the book is broken down into easily digestible chapters.

The first half of the book laid the groundwork for the second quite nicely. After chapter 15, I paused to breathe and really let everything from that chapter sink in before moving on (not necessary, but recommended).

Dan seems like an experienced teacher. He clearly relays his approach to living a successful, grace-filled life. Highly recommend!
You may think this is a light or fast read, WELL, it is much deeper than you can imagine. I have read and reread and reread Dan Balestrero’s, Everything I Needed To Know I Learned In Hell, and I’m still re- absorbing. Each sentence has words to “live by”! The first several chapters I was convinced were written for me, but Dan didn’t leave me to wallow in my self pity. He gives a blueprint to overcome these obstacles and self-defeating thoughts and mindsets. I’ve been a student of his for many years , and I’ve heard bits and pieces of of this book right from the source, but this book puts it all together from self- hell to freedom ! If you’re trapped on a desert island take this with you. It WILL getyou back to reality!!
While reading this book, I couldn't help but wonder how it was that Dan could possibly know all about me and my life struggles. It was as if he were writing about everything I have gone through, lessons I needed to learn, why I am trapped, and then providing me the instructions on how to pick myself up, dust it off, and move forward already. This is a book you read, absorb, have a ton of "Aha" moments with and then use to get yourself together for the better. When you get stuck, and you will, just re-read it and repeat! Hell is no place to live, folks! So, when you visit, take in the ugly sights, realize you don't want to build a vacation home there and then get the heck out and live life! This book will help you do that. Thanks, Dan!
