As a dog lover, I was very interested in reading this book and I am glad I did! I like how the author, Olivia Harloam, went into detail about the importance of taking your time to find the right dog for your family, lifestyle, etc. I wish that every person who is considering getting a dog would read this book. It is very informative and covers all the bases about becoming a pet parent. If more people would take these things into consideration when adding a new dog to their family, there would be less dogs taken to the shelters. I highly recommend this book! Great read and LOTS of valuable information!
Mans Best Friend How To Find and Raise A Great Dog is a fantastic book. I like how Olivia Harloam repeatedly reminds you that the special dog you find may not be the one you're looking for. I've often went to get a dog and clicked with one that was the complete opposite of what I thought I was looking for. Ms. Harloam gave very good tips on the basic training of puppies and dogs. This book would be a great starter to someone who wants a dog or puppy and needs a little basic advice. Definitely take into account that you should have a big yard for a big dog. Some breeds love to run
This book is very good! A great guide from how to choose a dog, by your lifestyle, the type of breed that you can mesh with (physical activities, where you live, ect) There are several great points she makes about how to care for your new pooch, from immunizations and grooming or baths. And also a great section on how to “not” train your new best friend. Getting frustrated only makes everyone miserable in the training process. All in all I really enjoyed every bit of this book. And I will try a few of them myself with my own puppy.
